Rums of Puerto Rico
Did you know that 70 percent of all rum consumed in the U.S. is from Puerto Rico? Puerto Rican rum is required by law to be aged one year in white oak barrels, which produces a delicate, smoother tasting rum, great for drinking straight or mixed in cocktails. In 2006, M. Young Communications was brought on board by Rums of Puerto Rico to develop a public relations campaign, the first for this client in over two years, to promote Puerto Rico as the “rum capital of the world.”
2007 activities include a press trip to Puerto Rico, a mixology class for press followed by a lunch with each course paired with rum, participation in the James Beard Foundation Awards in New York in May, the Food & Wine Classic in Aspen in June and Tales of the Cocktail in New Orleans in July.
